What is Powder Coating?
The process of powder coating is a dry finish, that uses thinly ground particles of pigment and resin, which are electrostatically charged and applied using a spray gun onto the product to be coated. The products are electrically grounded so that the charged powder particles stick to the products and are held there until melted and fused into a smooth coating in a curing oven. The result is a uniform, strong, long lasting, high quality finish that looks great and will reduce rusting for years. All products are pre-treated with a wash system (Shown) involving iron phosphatizing metal treatments, rust inhibitors and clean water rinses. The product is then dried in another booth and enters the powder spray booth. Once the products are covered with a colored powder, they enter a cure oven reaching 400 degrees for approximately 30 minutes where the powder is melted and fused to the product creating a finish that looks like a quality paint finish. A powder coat finish looks great and is very durable. It will last much longer than a liquid paint process. We at EZ Dumper use Dupont powder because its the best in the industry. Our standard color is Bike black, but we can powder our inserts and trailers several other colors as an option. Contact your local dealer to find out more about powder coating.
